Air India waives charges for carrying relief material for cyclone Gaja victims

”We will extend any sort of help to provide relief to the cyclone-affected areas of Tamil Nadu,” Suresh Prabhu said.

Air India has waived charges for carrying relief materials to victims of cyclone Gaja on its flights from the national capital to Chennai, following an order from Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu.

Cyclone Gaja crossed the Tamil Nadu coast between Nagapattinam and Vedaranyam on November 16, leaving more than 60 people dead and causing widespread damage.

Prabhu ordered Air India to waive cargo charges for the relief material that is being sent to Tamil Nadu to help victims of the cyclone and the airline management has agreed to it, according to an official release.

Tamil Nadu Bhawan in the national capital would coordinate and authorise the relief material that is to be transferred to Chennai

In Nagapattinam as of now 28 villages have formed a whatsapp group to coordinate relief work.

A similar initiative in other DISTRICTS TALUK AND VILLAGES will ease and streamline the relief works.

Gensets: Certain villages which do not have NRI Indians, interior and away from ECR road, especially in Tiruvarur erc can be a rented/donate a small Genset.

We r trying to identify old MSSRF-Village Knowledge Centre villages where in using Genset, Printer and Laptop necessary govt releates formalities can be facilitated.

Yes…. a filmy experience…

Got Call at Helpline +918448444151 27th 09.00 AM for Keezapatti, Thondamaurani, Ganapathipuram post, Gandarvakottai Taluk, Pudukottai.

Madan from APJK was on field, he tried to go there…but before fulfilling senior volunteers listed villages…. he ran out of supplies… returned back

Then another senior volunteer took over on 28th.. she arranged supply from Homeo team Coimbatore… as need was high the team made last minute purchases… and started at 3 PM…. the two drivers gave homeo Medicines to sTrichy volunteer at 7 PM at trichy and he despatched it to Nagai and his team hand delivered from ST courier to clinic. ..before 10AM..29th..

Gandarvakottai villagers had prepared dinner for the two divers coming from coimbatore…. but they got late…. in Adnakottai village at 10PM youth joined the drivers and ventured into pitch dark wilderness to reach the village..

Destination was reached at Midnight 28th…. in minutes youth downloaded…. Drivers had tea at from kind hands of villagers and started off and reached back to Coimbatore by 7 AM 29th

Today 29th the materials were distributed as above peacefully
